The word parasite comes from the Greek word parasite, which means "fungus" or "burden" and refers to an individual who collects and lives on the body of another. Parasites include worms, mites, protozoa, molds and bacteria.
All parasites are found in the soil of the earth. They must be ingested and passed on to another person for them to live in the human body. They usually live in an animal or plant's cells but they can also live in our own cells. In a person, the parasite may invade the intestinal tract and cause a variety of diseases, including stomach ulcers and cancer. Parasites are most commonly found in the intestines of cattle, horses, pigs, and sheep.
How can I prevent a person from getting an infection from a parasite? Many parasites are passed on through blood and saliva and can be identified by their characteristic color.
